Brooks posted a very emotional comment regarding his loss:
"Yesterday I had to say goodbye to my old friend Prieto - he was a fine horse - we hit it off the day we met, which was to film the video for "YOU'RE GONNA MISS ME" - he had his finest moments in the video for "MY MARIA" - he was fearless on the set - you can watch it today and see the crazy stuff I asked him to do - he never questioned the fact that I might get us both killed - he trusted me, and I trusted him and we made a little country music history together - I brought him back to Tn after that - he loved it here - and we shared a lot of good days in the woods together - and then he got old - 34 best I can figure - we had a good talk yesterday - he gave me that look with a smile and we both knew it was time - he's laid to rest under a big oak and I hope he'll be waiting when it's my time - Hasta luego Amigo, thanks for the ride !" "My Maria" was released in 1996 and earned Brooks & Dunn their second Grammy award.
